Oki C511 Driver Windows 7
I posted elsewhere earlier that when I tried to install an OKI C511 printer in Win 7 Home Premium (32 bit) it could not find a driver in Windows Update. This is puzzling since I had installed the same printer on another Win7 computer and the driver was found in update. The Risk Taker Kira Sinclair Epub. I've now gone into OKI's website and followed their advice about installing a plug and play printer; when I tried the first part of installing the same printer on another Win7 computer to the point where I select OKI from the list of manufacturers, it does list the C511 as one available through Windows 7. (I did not proceed beyond that as I did not want to complete the installation on that computer). So why did not the Win 7 on which I was trying to install this printer not pick it up?

And, I am never offered any Optional Updates on that computer either (although I have the 'Give me recommended updates.' Box checked). I would really welcome any suggestions about these problems.
Regards John. Thanks Noel - that is indeed where I got the driver from but I'm having great difficulty getting this to operate a shared printer connected to another Win 7 computer. Printer recognised, connected (all looks good), accepts the Print command, but won't print - never gets further than the print queue. Two other 'remote' computers (Win 7 and XP) operate the printer OK, as does the host. It's as if when I try printing from the problem one it never gets further than the host.
I've posted the problem elsewhere in these forums but I'm totally stumped by this one! Click 'Start' and then click 'Devices and Printers' on the Windows & computer. Click on 'Add Printer' at top of page. You will be prompted with 2 options. Choose Add Local Printer if printer is connected by USB. Choose Add Network Printer if printer is on a network.
If local printer was chosen, the next screen will ask you to select a port. Click the drop down window and select the highest USB option. You miight see USB 001 throu USB 004 for example. In this case you would choose USB 004. And click next 4b. If you choose Network printer, it will search for your printer. Once it finds your printer, highlight it and click next.
At the bottom of the manufacturer and printer lists, you will see a windows update button. Press this button and windows will update your computer with printer drivers only. When you hit the “Check for updates” it looks for them, then doesn’t find them most of the time, say the firewall maybe blocking it. What is odd at the same time, the windows.
